7cgen rules - PLEASE READ

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.

The purpose of existence of this forum is solely for the sake of Allah swt and to spread the message of Islam to Muslims and non-Muslims if they wish to join the forum. We ask Allah to accept our intentions to spread His da'wah (Islamic call) and to make the forum a success in refuting the common misconceptions about our deen (way of life) and in allowing people to truly appreciate what the beautiful religion of Islam means.

Islamic Guidelines

1. Islamic Adab
An integral part of Islam is adab (Islamic courtesy) and the way we interact with each other. As an international forum, there may be differences of opinions or disagreements of another nature.

The forum shouldn't be used to post any material which is knowingly false and/or offensive, abusive, threatening, invasive of one's personal privacy and contradicting the rules of general Islamic etiquette. Special care should also be taken when speaking to our younger brothers or sisters as they may not be mature enough to understand certain concepts and so we advise against being harsh, but rather gentle and patient. Also, as a predominantly Islamic forum, respect for Islam is expected from all participants. Non-Muslims are welcome on this forum to debate, discuss and learn, so long as proper etiquette is maintained. We also expect there to be respect for some fundamental Islamic beliefs and personalities (disagreement is tolerated, disrespect is not) including but not confined to the Prophet Muhammad (saw), his companions (sahabah), all other prophets of Islam and the established scholarship of Ahl Us Sunnah Wal Jamaah.

We will try to ensure that Islamic adab is adhered to at all times. Tough (new) measures are in place at the forum in light of what has happened in the past:
  • General/minor breaches of this rule will attract a 20% warning, with the post edited, or deleted as required.
  • Personal attacks on members will attract a 40% warning level.
  • Major breaches of adab will attract a 60% warning level.
  • Complete disregard for adab, including unfounded claims of members being Kafir or murtad etc., will attract a 3 day suspension

2. Freemixing
Free-mixing is a serious issue in Islam, and we will do our part to ensure we abide by Islam's rulings. Segregated brothers and sisters sections are provided for general chatter. The forum is not to be used for socialising or as a dating/marriage service. Be on your guard in all main sections as zina can easily be fallen into. Jazakallahu Khairan!

No Party Talk

The no party talk rule is to prevent unwarranted and blatant attacking, or promoting, of groups. However, it is not designed to stop the discussion of concepts held by parties, nor the promotion of events held by parties as long as they adhere to the following rules:

1. The no party talk rule is breached if:
  1. There is blatant promotion of the group - including, but not limited to, open recruitment campaigns.
  2. A party/group is attacked. This rule does not apply if concepts alone are attacked without mention of groups. Keep the discussion based around the concepts themselves rather than specific people representing a group.

2. The rule is not breached, however, if:
  1. A group's event is promoted in the "your shout" section. This includes, but is not limited to, demonstrations, public lectures and conferences.
  2. Links are provided to external sources that contain concepts that may be known to be held by certain parties, so long as there is no blatant promotion/attacking of groups.


1. Penalties
These rules are intended to ensure that Islamic rulings and atmosphere are adhered to. The general penalty system, unless otherwise stated will be as follows:
  • Minor Offence – a 20% warning level increase
  • Medium Level Offence – a 40% warning level increase
  • Major Offence – 60% warning level increase
  • Complete disregard for rules and offences anomalous and grave enough to warrant one will see an instant ban handed out.
Members behaviour, whose warning levels have been increased, will be reviewed at regular intervals. Warning levels will be decreased if an appropriate change of behaviour can be seen. Anyone who feels that there warning levels should be reduced should contact the mod/admin team. If there are any questions or queries about certain rules or posts please contact a member of the mod/admin team.

2. Moderation queue

The Admin Team reserves the right to place all members that it feels might act in other than the best interest of communal Islamic harmony into a moderation queue. This queue would see all their posts withheld from automatic publication on the board and each post subject to the approval from the Administrative team. Members with a record of insults, divisive behaviour and constant contravention of forum policies may be dealt with in this manner at the complete discretion of the Administrative team.

3. Policy on discussion about "Jihad" and allied subjects

3a - Exordium: 7cgen is a platform for Islamic discussions mainly for the youth, and others who want to come here. Its designed for the youth to discuss their deen. This is its purpose. There is no imperative on the people who run the forum to provide a grounds for discussion on any particular topic if it causes detriment to its members or risks the existence of this place. Members should not post anything that may incriminate themselves, other members or the forum, for 'glorifying' or 'inciting terrorism/violence'. Links to Jihad videos and other such sites may be removed.

3b - Policy: The Admins/Mods of 7cgen hereby possess complete discretion over discussion pertaining to matters of Jihad. In the past, the Admin/Mod team has allowed almost all discussion to go ahead. In recent times we have sought legal advice from the Admins of other such forums as ours, legal advice from those in the field of law in the countries where the forum is based, and in light of this, while obviously we have never promoted any specific manhaj etc., the imperative seems clear to us in terms of the purpose of the forum to practice our discretion in light of the purpose for which this forum was set up, and to make decisions on this basis.

3c (Ammendment August 2009)
- in light of seeking legal advice and the trusted advice of those Muslims who have been involved in litigation in western countries, the Administrative team of 7cgen also reserves the right to remove any press releases and videos, and other materials openly extolling, those organisations that are proscribed (banned) or association with whom might serve to incriminate either our forum members or the forum generally. The emphasis is on possible association and profiling by law agencies of Muslims presnt at forums - in light of our knowledge of people being profiled even for the most mundane things, this is thought to be an imperative addition to our policy. We reserve the right to exercise discretion in fulfilling our objective of protecting everyone without diluting the Islam we allow to be discussed.

Entry into the Brothers'/Sisters' Sections

Entry to the segregated Brothers and Sisters' section is on a per-request basis (either in a thread, if noticed by an Admin, or through contacting an Admin). If you would like to gain entry into these excellent segregated sections, then you will need to contact a member of the Admin Team.

The prerequisite for entrance into the segregated sections is that you must accumulate 10 posts. Once you have this number of posts, please PM the Admin team, or post in your introduction thread regarding your desire to enter. Please note we reserve the right not to grant anyone into the segregated section, accumulating 10 posts is not a guarantee or a right to gain access to the sections.

5. Calender your events!

You may want to give an upcoming event you know about a little bit of exposure by having it posted at the 7CG events calendar. The procedure for this is simple – you are required to first post details of your event in the Your shout! section, and then simply either notify a member of the Admin team that you would like the event put on the calendar, or you can let us know in your thread in that section.

6. Privacy Policy

To avoid accusations of spying on fellow Muslims, the list is the following of what is not private (to the mods/admins):

• IP Addresses
• Email Addresses
• Deleted Posts
• Your Who's On-line status (even if you have chosen to browse invisibly)

If a matter within the anonymous section raises concern among the admin team, an IP check may be done. In addition, should a forum member feel the need to report another forum member's PM activity, or if a mod/admin deems it necessary, then PMs could be forwarded/CC'd to other mods/admins.

Should a matter arise that it can only be dealt with an administrator, then the administrator would have access to information to be able to deal with that matter. Where possible mods & admin will always only access their own gender sections. However should all administrators be of one gender, and the matter relate to the opposite gender, then all attempts would be made to have the matter dealt with by a same gender mod, before escalating it to an administrator.

Please note we are under no obligation to either delete your account or posts.

7. Usernames/Signatures/Avatars:

Avoid choosing a username that is, or part of, a profane word, sexy or inspiring of any ill-feelings or that is Islamically unlawful. If you did so, kindly PM an admin to change your username with an acceptable one.

You should try to restrict the length or size of your signature to no more than equivalent of the space between the following letters A and B, going vertically down:



No postings of Flags, in your icon setting, signature or anywhere else in the forum categories. We do not allow members to promote any nationalistic patriotism of their countries. Islam is the flag for all humanity indiscriminate of colours, nationality and ethnicity, and thus we take pride in this religion. The only exceptions to this rule are the Islamic flags of Al-Liwaa & Ar-Raya.

The admin team reserve the right to change any Username/avatar/signature that they deem unfit.

8. Admins and Moderators Rights:

Admins and Moderators are rigid of member's posts and new topics and replies that has little or no relevant importance to Islam along with replies that indicate attacks both personal and Islamic may be edited, deleted or permanently closed without prior notice. Moderators have an option to either send you a Private Message or briefly inform you and other participants in the thread why such actions were exercised.

All communications made available as part of this forum and any opinions, advice, statements, views or other information expressed are solely provided by, and the responsibility of, the person posting such communication and not of 7cgen.com or any of it's administration team.

10. Time limit for editing posts

There is a time limit for editing one's own posts. One can only edit their posts for 60 minutes after having made a post; this is in order to encourage people to think before they post and in light of past experience at the forum.

11. General posting guidelines

Do not post up materials you do not have permission to post, this is mainly copyrighted materials. When posting articles, news-pieces, images or any other material please post the source or credit the author otherwise such material may be removed. Pirated software is not welcome here and any thread on such topic will be removed.

Do not post any personal information of yourself for your own safety, or any other 3rd party that you do not have permission from.

12. Further Terms & Rules

Please remember that we are not responsible for any messages posted. We do not vouch for or warrant the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of any message, and are not responsible for the contents of any message.

The messages express the views of the author of the message, not necessarily the views of this bulletin board. Any user who feels that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to contact us immediately by email. We have the ability to remove objectionable messages and we will make every effort to do so, within a reasonable time frame, if we determine that removal is necessary.

You agree, through your use of this service, that you will not use this bulletin board to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise in violation of any law.

13. Keep Updated

7cgen reserves the right to change/modify, add or remove any rules at any time without warning or notice. It is the responsibility of the forum member to check the forum rules on a regular basis for any revisions.

By registering and posting on the 7cgen forums, you agree to abide by the above rules and terms.
