Asalamu 'Alaykuum,

This is a poem that I just composed this afternoon, so sorry for any mistakes. Anyway, please read and make du'a that one day I will meet my son Khattab inshallah! :)

"Khattab my Son"
By Ahmad Abu Khattab

I imagine you to be a smart little charm,
Innocence evident in your glistering eyes.
Long hair to your shoulders accompanies your looks,
Your smile so cheeky; it is your second disguise.

“Allahu Akbar!” you shout when you’re so young,
The specialness seen as I see you kiss your mother.
Gentle and kind to your other siblings and friends,
Playing and sharing with your sister and brother.

Stroking my hair before you go to sleep,
As your sweet little eyes fall in and out of slumber.
As your grasp on my finger slowly eases gently,
I feel within you there is no supreme anger.

At peace with your surroundings; taking care of creatures,
Playing with ants; guiding them away from people.
Sitting by the window and listening to the rain,
As you whisper to me a story, a story so truthful.

I sit by you as your eyes light up,
Narrating to me how the Battle of Bader was won.
Saying one day you wish to be like Hamza the companion,
Brings joy to my heart because you are my son.

My son wishing to be a man of honour,
From a young age; it’ll bring a tear to my eye.
Asking his sister would she like to be like Hamza,
As she pauses and laughs; he begins to cry.

“Don’t cry baba, she doesn’t know what you’re saying”
You then stop crying as I see your smile creep up.
“Baba will I be like Hamza one day?”
“Inshallah son; don’t let your dream ever stop.”

I know your still not here with me,
But it is a wish I keep close to my heart.
For one day to hold you in my own two arms,
Nothing to separate us or keep us apart.

Your mother to tell you stories of Islam’s adventure,
From the very beginning to what will happen in the end.
Gazing upon her, your eyes glued to her lips,
Listening to every word until it’s time for bed.

You see me praying and you try to join me,
Taking a peek on the move that I’m doing.
Moving your lips to imitate the reciting,
I know within you your Iman is growing.

Whenever I’m down you sit in front of me,
Just staring endlessly until I can no longer bare.
Unable to hold a laugh from your staring,
The staring that tells me that you really do care.

When your mother is doing her daily chores,
You go ahead and try to help her out.
Pecking her with kisses whenever she thanks you,
She then informs you it’s time for a cookout.

Messing up the kitchen as you try to cook,
Your mother helping you to make your food.
Telling me about how you had fun with her,
My tiredness no more; my happiness renewed.

One day son I wish you to be here with me,
I wish for you to be just as I have spoken.
It might not be on the Earth of this dunya,
But know that my wish for you will never be broken.

Only Allah knows what awaits us both,
It may be a journey that stretches further than the sun.
Will I ever be able to kiss you goodnight?
Inshallah when the time comes... Khattab my son.

Wa alaykum assalam warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu,

Masha'Allah brother.

May Allahswt allow us to raise our children (if we are blessed as such) to be like those great heroes in Islam.

Jazak Allahu Kheir! And inshallah if I have him I'm gonna say that the Muslims from 7cgen sent their salams to him before he was even born. So people start sending your salams to him lol.

Such a touching poem. Reminded me of Khattab the Mujahid and his little son.
Allahu Akbar, a soft person with loved ones and a lion for the Ummah. May Allah decree for you and everyone of us such a blessing, just as you described him to be.
