Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) said: “There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to ALLAH than the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah.”The people asked, "Not even Jihaad for the sake of ALLAH?" He replied:“Not even Jihaad for the sake of ALLAH, except for the case of a man who went out to fight giving himself and his wealth up for the cause and returned with nothing.”

[Al-Bukhaari]

We should all take advantage of the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah by performing more good deeds.

‎"There are no days in which righteous acts are more beloved to Allah than in these days (the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah). They asked: O Messenger of Allah (saw), not even Jihad in His (swt) way? He (saw) replied: Not even Jihad in the way of Allah, except for the man that goes out with his life and his money and does not return with either of them". - The Messenger of Allah (saw)

The Messenger of Allah, upon whom be peace, said: "There are no other days that are as great as these in the sight of Allah, the Most Sublime. Nor are there any deeds more beloved to Allah then those that are done in these ten days. So increase in tahlîl (to say lâ illaha illallah), takbîr (to say allahu akbar) and tahmîd (to say alhumdulillâh)."

The Messenger of Allaah صلى الله علبه وسلم said: "The greatest day in the sight of Allaah is the day of an-Nahr (day of sacrifice i.e. day of Eid al-Adh-ha)"

[Reported by Ahmad bin Hanbal in his Musnad no. 17596 and declared Saheeh by al-Albaanee in al-Mishkaat no. 2643]

Time to remove your hair and cut your nails, if you intend to sacrifice an animal. Alhamdulillah, the ten great days/nights are almost upon us.

It was narrated from Umm Salamah (may Allaah be pleased with her) that
the Prophet (sallAllahu ályhi wasallam) said:

“When you see the new moon of Dhu’l-Hijjah, and one of you wants to offer a sacrifice, let him refrain from (removing anything) from his hair or nails.” (Narrated by Muslim, 1977)

Ahadeeth on Dhul Hijjah.

Narrated Ibn 'Umar: At Mina, the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa'salam) said, "Do you know what is the day today?" The people replied, "Allah and His Apostle know it better." He said, "It is the forbidden (sacred) day. And do you know what town is this?" They replied, "Allah and His Apostle know it better." He said, "This is the forbidden (Sacred) town (Mecca). And do you know which month is this?" The people replied, "Allah and His Apostle know it better." He said, "This is the forbidden (sacred) month." The Prophet added, "No doubt, Allah made your blood, your properties, and your honor sacred to one another like the sanctity of this day of yours in this month of yours in this town of yours." Narrated Ibn 'Umar: On the Day of Nahr (10th of dhul-Hijja), the Prophet stood in between the Jamrat during his Hajj which he performed (as in the previous Hadith) and said, "This is the greatest Day (i.e. 10th of dhul-hijjah)." The Prophet started saying repeatedly, "O Allah! Be Witness (I have conveyed Your Message)." He then bade the people farewell. The people said, "This is Hajjat-al-Wada)."
[Sahih Bukhari - Book #26, Hadith #798]

Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas: The Apostle of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa'salam) offered the noon prayer on the 8th of dhul-hijjah (Yawm at-Tarwiyah) and dawn prayer on the 9th of dhul-hijjah (Yawm al-Arafah) in Mina.
[Sunan Abu Dawud - Book #10, Hadith #19060]

Narrated AbuBakrah: The Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa'salam) gave a sermon during his Hajj and said: Time has completed a cycle and assumed the form of the day when Allah created the heavens and the earth. The year contains twelve months of which four are sacred, three of them consecutive, viz. dhul-Qa'dah, dhul-hijjah and Muharram and also Rajab of Mudar which comes between Jumadah and Sha'ban.
[Sunan Abu Dawhud - Book #10, Hadith #19429]

Narrated One of the wives of the Prophet: Hunaydah ibn Khalid narrated from his wife on the authority of one of the wives of the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa'salam) who said: The Apostle of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa'salam) used to fast the first nine days of dhul-hijjah, Ashura' and three days of every month, that is, the first Monday (of the month) and Thursday.
[Book #13, Hadith #2431]

Ayaat on Dhul Hijjah.

And a declaration from Allah and His Messenger to mankind on the greatest day (the 10th of dhul-hijjah - the 12th month of Islamic calendar) that Allah is free from (all) obligations to the Mushrikun (See V.2:105) and so is His Messenger. So if you (Mushrikun ) repent, it is better for you, but if you turn away, then know that you cannot escape (from the Punishment of) Allah. And give tidings (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) of a painful torment to those who disbelieve.
( سورة التوبة , At-Taubah, Chapter #9, Verse #3)

That they may witness things that are of benefit to them (i.e. reward of Hajj in the Hereafter, and also some worldly gain from trade), and mention the Name of Allah on appointed days (i.e. 10th, 11th, 12th, and 13th day of dhul-hijjah), over the beast of cattle that He has provided for them (for sacrifice), [at the time of their slaughtering by saying: (Bismillah, Wallahu-Akbar, Allahumma Minka wa Ilaik).] Then eat thereof and feed therewith the poor having a hard time.
( سورة الحج , Al-Hajj, Chapter #22, Verse #28)

It was narrated that Jundub ibn Sufyaan (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: I was present on Eid al-Adha with the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). When he had finished leading the people in prayer, he looked at a sheep that had been slaughtered and said, ‘Whoever slaughtered (his sacrifice) before the prayer, let him slaughter a sheep in place of it, and whoever has not yet slaughtered (his sacrifice), let him do so in the name of Allaah.”

{Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 942; Muslim, 1960}.
