So, is there anything positive about University??

Perosnally I can't waaaaaaait! :D

I started crying from the fitnah I faced at university. I'm being serious, I was driving back home and I couldn't believe how bad it was... Absolutely no positives in my books. Tfoo 'ala university...

LOL sorry sis dont mean to sound rude but "speak for yourself!" as the saying goes. i HONESTLy believe the vast majority of us here at the forum, for instance, would rather be learning deen in the classical way rather than spending time at unis trying to lower our gazes, avoid fitnah and generally partaking in studies whose benefit is very difficult to see in the incorporeal sense (hereafter) and yes yes i know the "study to put food on ur future family's table" speil. this is about competing interests, no one denies the importance of doing that but its what is lost in the process in the prime of one's life (late teens, early 20's) that this dilemma is about

:agree:

I believe we spend more time studying the dunya than we do our deen. What knowledge is gonna be the knowledge that will help us in the end? It is the knowledge of Islam. Don't get me wrong, I do understand that it is also important to be 'smart' but the knowledge of the deen is more valuable and should be everybody's main priority. One does not need a university degree to survive today, that is just an excuse to horde and store dunya (in my opinion). The only reason why I'm at uni is because my parents wanted me to go; I would've been happy just to complete an apprenticeship, earning a standard wage than to spend 4 years studying dunya to get a job that pays high. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with having a high paying job, but c'mon! Spending like half a decade to achieve this is just a waste of time in my opinion; it takes so much time out of you and doesn't allow you to practice your deen properly, and what if you die during this period and you have not learnt your deen reasonably because you spent most of your time learning the dunya? Ahothibillah.

Very True. I agree with what you have both said.

This is why we all need to sit and correct our list of priorities in life. May Allah azza wa 'jal make it easy for us. Ameen.

The Shaytan beautifies the dunya for us. InshaaAllah we will be of those who act according to what pleases Allah azza wa'jal.

We should remember that Allah is Al-Samad, the Everlasting Refuge. The task might be hard, changing aspects of ones life isn't easy, let along ones self but with the Help of Allah azza wa 'jal it will happen. Believe this, with all certainty. Have patience and let us do as much as we can for the sake of Allah azza wa 'jal until we take hold of an opportunity that comes our way, where we can for instance further study the deen but let us also take advantage of the opportunities that are at our door, we need to organise our time efficiently so that we focus on our ibaadah and increase our ilim and application of it, inshaaAllah.

May Allah azza wa 'jal set our affairs straight for us. Ameen.
