Assalaamu Alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu dear ukhtee,

Do forgive me for not replying in your thread, i haven’t really be on forum lately otherwise would have replied in here, (I think I will need to open a duaa thread for myself soon! )

Allahumma inni as'aluka farajan qariban, wa sabran jameelan, wa rizqan wasi'an, wal 'afiyata min jami'il-bala'i, wa as'aluka tammamal-'afiyati wa as'aluka dawamal-'afiyati, wa as'aluka-sh-shukha'alal 'afiyati, wa as'alukal-ghina 'anin-naasi, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billahil 'aliyyil-adhim.

O Allah, I ask You of immediate prosperity, and beautiful patience against misery and affliction, and abundance in sustenance, and peace from all misfortunes; and I also ask You for perfect and perpetual peace of mind, and I ask You to enable me to give thanks for granting me peace, and I ask You (to make me prosperous enough) to be needless of other people, and I cannot be saved (from sins) nor have I power (for good deeds), but by the help of Allah, the Sublime, the Great.

Sign of Eeman

Abu Hurayrah (RA) and Ka'b Bin Maalik (RA) reported that the Prophet (SAW) said: " The parable of a believer is that of a fresh and moist plant; the wind tilts it this way and that way; and so is the believer; he continues to be subject to affliction. And the parable of a hypocrite is that of a firm cedar tree; it does not shake - until it is uprooted all at once." [Bukharee and Muslim]

May Allah(swt) keep your foothold strong, strengthen your iman and taqwah, bestow upon you Sabrun jameelun and grant you good health.

Just remember this insha’Allah:
One is afflicted in accordance with his deen (faith). If his deen is firm his affliction is hard, and if his deen is weak, his affliction is light.

May Allah(swt) keep you steadfast in your Deen, and may He(swt) make the difficult easy for you, so that you are able to pass every test He(swt) puts forth.

Ameen.

Take care,

I have moderate M.E. I'd be interested in hearing from any other Muslims who are living with the same condition. It's not life threatening but is debilitating.

M.E.?

M.E is short for Myalgic Encephalomyelitis. It is a multi system disorder (ie affects the neurological, endocrine, cardiovascular, digestive and central nervous systems) causing loads of symptoms (too numerous to bore you with here). It is not curable but to some extent it is treatable though there is so much dirty politics surrounding it, that vested interest groups (for example Health insurers who'll end up being pushed into making big payouts if the illness is recognised) are influencing governments and the media in the hope of preventing it's recognition, treatment and even research into a cure. Of the people I know with M.E, some improve over time, some worsen and some retain the same level of illness throughout their lives as the nature of it is unpredictable so I don't know whether I'll get better or not. I have moderate M.E which is neither mild (my M.E did start off as mild to the extent that I was still able to live a relatively normal life with it for several years until it worsened particularly over the past 18 months) nor severe. Severe M.E can be fatal.

Unlike most of the stupid, ill informed reports on M.E in the media, this video below highlights the reality of it very well. This video (and the info on the right hand side of the screen) explains the situation brilliantly but bear in mind that most of those in the video have severe M.E whereas mine is alhamdullilah not severe:
