Reluctant groom
http://www.7cgen.com...?showtopic=9505

A poem partly inspired by Baba Ali

Just finished uni
Done my masters
And I’m twenty three
Got a job sorted
Career guaranteed
Life is on track
But one setback

Aint got no wife
To complete this life
Had enough of playing
Home and away

Got married at eighteen
Arranged to a stranger
Doesn’t matter
She’s related
I was mentally sedated
Brainwashed and blackmailed

So I did the deed
Reluctantly
I said yes
Then got stressed
When I thought about it

She came over
But I still continued with my lover
Parents knew
No one cared
Family traditions maintained
That’s all that mattered

But I felt mentally and physically shattered
Not easy pleasing two women

Kids came
Legit and illegitimate
Father of four
My life was a bore

Living like Jekyl and Hyde
Two mobiles
Always on edge
Drink and drugs
Feeling like a criminal
My life sucks

Time to decide
What to do
Make tough decisions
Upset the parents and family

What do i want?

Lived most of my life for others
Never thought or was bothered
Went with the flow
Now I’m feeling down and so low

Went to a talk
Not to stalk
women
But to learn
And understand
Why I am in this dunya
Is it for satisfying desires and lusts?

The speaker
Appeared to be a joker
Showing videos
And humour

Place was packed
Like sardines stacked
Brothers and sisters
Some in the deen
While others searching
And some lost souls

Made me think
That Friday night
So I took a break
For one night
From zina and drink

Woke up on Saturday
Feeling exhilarated
Better than along time
Time to focus
And not move with the locusts

Heading for hell
Laughing and smiling
Brainwashed totally

Me I’m trying
With the deen
and want to be seen
In the masjid and in sajdah
Bowing only to Allah

Alhamdulillah really impressive :icon_smile_applaud:
but i too was a lil' confused - first the the reader is 23 & unmarried, then 18 & married....is it meant to be 2 different people?

JazakAllah for the kind words

Yes the guy does have a wife, he was forced/coerced to marry a relative but from his thinking shes not his wife in the true sense because he had very little choice in the matter. His family wanted him to marry back home and bring her over to please the extended families and to have an unpaid slave as well as grand children. The fact hes not fulfilling his responsibilities as a husband means little to his parents.

I hope that makes things clear inshAllah. Maybe someone knows of actual cases where the issues mentioned in the poem actually apply and can enlighten us more.

Does anyone know any Muslim males coerced/forced to marry against their wishes?

Its usually women who such things happen to but I have heard of a few cases of young men being forced as well.
